To submit your list(s) for posting, complete the Teacher Music List and/or the Teacher Accessory List interactive forms. Students can now browse the music and accessory lists by teacher's last name, and either purchase the books online or call and have them held for pickup. Your students can also find your list by searching for the school and then clicking on your name.
"The Amazing Slow Downer is a great app for all musicians, from instrumentalists to vocalists to composers and arrangers! It allows you to slow down a song without altering the pitch. This feature is great when learning new songs with accompaniment. The program also allows you to also change keys in case you need the accompaniment a few steps higher or lower. The ability to loop small segments of a song makes the Amazing Slow Downer a great tool for transcribing any solo or arrangement." - review by Amy, a member of our staff who uses the full version of this app.
The Lite version of the Amazing Slow Downer is available free from the iTunes Store, but has some restrictions, such as only playing the first quarter of the audio file. However, if you like it, you can purchase the full version for $14.99.
For beginning orchestral string players, it can be difficult to know exactly where to place fingers on the fingerboard due to the absence of frets, keys, or buttons. It can also be confusing to understand why some fingers are placed close together (for a half step) or with a space between them (for a whole step). However, we were unable to find a product that shows the placement of each note on the fingerboard in an easy to understand chart, so we've created our own. In February, we introduced our complimentary Violin Fingerboard Charts and we've had so much interest that we decided to continue. This month features two new charts for viola players - one for the beginner player that displays only natural and sharp notes, and one for the advancing player that shows natural, sharp, and flat notes. The files we have created are non-copyrighted, so you are free to make copies as needed. You can pick them up on cardstock the next time you visit us, or print the beginning chart or advanced chart from home. Cello and Bass fingerboard charts will be following in future newsletters.
Featuring 2052 performances from singers in 58 countries, the Virtual Choir 2.0 - singing Whitacre's "Sleep" - is the largest assembled online in history, and far surpasses Whitacre's original goal of 900 voices. We hope you like it as much as we did. (Can't see the video? View it in a browser.)

Our latest addition to the sheet music department is Joseph Cruz. A Michigan native, Joseph is a classical pianist who attended Eastern Michigan University and the North Carolina School of the Arts. He has performed at music festivals in Italy, London, Amsterdam and New York.
Joseph relocated to Phoenix just this year. He is an avid cyclist, likes to compose and accompany, and has just begun to play accordion. While Joseph makes decisions about graduate school, we are happy to have him at The Music Store. Drop by the sheet music department and Joseph will be glad to assist you.
