Mercedes Murrieta

Mercedes Murrieta

Mercedes is a private violin and viola instructor in Phoenix and the East Valley. She also is the String Orchestra Director at a public middle school in Scottsdale for 5th through 8th grades. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Ottawa University and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration at Arizona State University. She is a certified Mark O'Connor Method teacher, and has a passion for learning and applying new teaching techniques.

Mercedes is also a member of the Mesa Community College Orchestra and the Arizona String Quartet. Along with performance instruction in any style of music, Mercedes also tutors in music theory. Her emphasis is on creating a well rounded musician that is skillful on their instrument, but that will also get the most out of whatever avenue the student wants to take, be it composing, performing or teaching. Her instructional style is structured and positive, and she has experience teaching all ages and experience levels.

Daga Suchon

Dagmara Suchon-Hobbs

Daga is a professional violin teacher in Phoenix and East Valley. She teaches both Suzuki Method and the curriculum passed down from the Russian school of violin. A member of the American String Teachers Association, Daga is the only teacher in the Phoenix area that hails from a legacy of Eastern European musicians and the H. Wieniawski International Violin Competition. Respected also for her folk and gypsy violin, her family traditions required Daga to play the violin since the age of four. She graduated with honors as Master of Violin and Music Education from the I.J. Paderewski School of Music in Poznan, Poland.

Dagmara's performances have ranged from early music ensembles, to classical symphony orchestras, film music recordings, jazz groups, flamenco guitarists, to corporate shows with an electric violin in Europe and the US. Since relocating to Phoenix, AZ, Daga is very active in cultural of the Valley of the Sun performing with The Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Musicfest, Duo Polonaise, solo recitals and various ensembles. She offers lessons for top students in her private studio.

As a teacher, Daga places emphasis on consistent training, self-discipline, musical expression, and good citizenship. Every student will participate in a recital each winter, as well as a performance exam (ASTACAP) every spring. Students of all ages and levels are welcome, after they complete an initial interview.
