Julia Lougheed

Julia Lougheed began studying the clarinet at age 11. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree, has been an active freelancer and chamber musician, maintained a thriving private studio, collaborated with visual artists and dancers, performed at Festivals in New York City, Jacksonville, and Belgium, commissioned and premiered new works for the clarinet, founded award-winning chamber ensembles, and started her own community engagement concert series in her hometown of Orlando, Florida. Julia is currently finishing a Master of Music degree at Arizona State University, where she studies under renowned teachers Dr. Robert Spring and Dr. Joshua Gardner.

As a teacher, Julia strives to instill strong fundamental technique in students while encouraging them to find their individual artistic voices. Julia works with students to develop and achieve their personal goals. Julia's students have earned regional and district level honors, while enjoying expressing themselves through music. Julia teaches clarinet and saxophone, and seeks to foster an appreciation for the variety of music available to both instruments. Through group lessons, Julia hopes to foster a supportive social network for young players. She believes students play music at their best when they are having the most fun.
